Mitchell, Anne Michelle

MITCHELL, ANNE MICHELLE - A native of St. Brigid's Parish, Anne was a long-time immigration lawyer with her own practice in the Washington, DC area. She passed away peacefully at the age of 66 in hospice care on Tuesday 4 June at Inova Alexandria Hospital. Anne is survived by her husband, Conor, stepdaughter, Natalia Howard, and her sister, Mary Davies.  Born to parents, René and Kathleen Mitchell (on January 25, 1958), Anne attended Rathmore Grammar & Preparatory School, before moving to Methodist College, Belfast. She then studied at Trinity College, Dublin, where she earned a BA and JD. She was later awarded an MA (Oxon).   Anne passed the New York bar exam at the first attempt! Later, Anne founded her own practice - Mitchell & Dunn - beginning in 1989. As well as running a thriving law firm, Anne was a board member of Solas Nua, and was an enthusiastic supporter of Irish cultural events in the Washington DC area, as well as broader Irish-American business and arts organisations.  Anne will be remember at a funeral mass at the Basilica of St. Mary, in Alexandria, VA on Friday (14th).
