Mccollum, Christopher Andrew

McCOLLUM, CHRISTOPHER ANDREW - Died September 8, 2001, aged 16. Treasured memories of a dear son and best friend. 8th of September and 2018, Saturday again, as that day had been 17 years, never seems so long, your memory Chris, still lives on. After 6 years at home had a week away lovely time in Lanzarote, Mum enjoyed the pool, we enjoyed the sun, never the same, without your fun. Took a decision, surprised a few, to close our charity, named after you, many reasons we felt, should do, much was achieved, because of you. Support over 10 years, great to see £100,000 raised for the charity, 40 young people equipment we got, improved their quality of life a lot, 700 hours research time too, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a testimony to you. Sir Alex collapsed one day in May, recovering now glad to say, was an awful day for Utd fans, 4 times you met the great man. Bryan Adams, in Dublin, great to see, our hotel he happened to be. Never thought would see a day, Geraldine come over here, Bryan Adams would say. Went to Manchester, not for a game, for Question of Sport of TV fame, my favourite programme, wanted to see, Mum got tickets for her and me, Sue Barker, came to see us too, President MD, she knows about you. Lovely walk have to say, to Old Trafford, short distance away, what a feeling each time we see, Chris McCollum’s brick at front of OT. Sadly Jose won no cups this year, his football is poor, be no better I fear. People ask what Chris would say Utd so good back in your day. Mum is excited as we are going to be in Barcelona, she wanted to see great places to visit, Nou Camp too, Utd’s treble there, a great night with you. Your empty space no one can fill, we miss you Chris and always will. Forever in our hearts, love never dies. Love Mum and Dad. xx.
