Russell, Kenneth
RUSSELL, KENNETH - Sandra, Rhonda, Jillian, Gail, Nicola and entire family circle of the late Ken Russell, wish to express their sincere thanks to the many relatives, friends and neighbours who sympathised with us and supported us on the death of a dear husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother and brother-in-law.
Thank you to all those who visited the family home, attended the funeral, telephoned, sent cards and letters, gave a donation in lieu of flowers to the Foyle Hospice or helped in any way. The family extend a huge thanks to you all. Every act of kindness and support was deeply appreciated.
A special thanks to all the retired fire fighters and their wives who visited Ken and his family during his short illness, they brightened his days with pictures and stories of past times. Ken enjoyed these visits more than words can convey and there were a lot of wet feet in our home at those times!
Thanks to the Reverend Rob Craig and Reverend David Clarke for their many visits, both at home and in hospital. Their support and prayers were greatly appreciated. Thanks also for the personal and fitting funeral service in Kilfennan Presbyterian Church. Also for the support of the congregation and Men’s Club, with home visits, and keeping Ken up-to-date, with the latest developments of the on-going building work in the Church.
A particular word of thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff in Altnagelvin Hospital, the North West Cancer Care Centre, Macmillan Cancer Support Centre, The Royal Victoria Hospital, Dr Orr Foyleside Family Practice, Foyle Hospice Home Care Nurses, the Doctors and staff of the Foyle Hospice, Michelle Doherty and Heather Coulter, Cancer Care Services, Sperrin Suite, Altnagelvin, the staff at Trench Road Pharmacy and Moira O’Donnell and staff of the Nationwide Building Society. Sincere thanks also to the caring ambulance team who transferred Ken to the Foyle Hospice.
Thanks to P.S.N.I. for the efficient funeral traffic control, Mildred Killen for the refreshments after the committal and to Ruth and David Hay Funeral Directors for conducting Ken’s funeral with dignity and caring professionalism. Thank you to Ken’s nephew, Ewan Wilson, for piping the cortège to the grave.
Lastly we would like to thank Jonathan Tate, Area Commander, NI Fire and Rescue Service Western Area and all the fire fighters who took part in Ken’s funeral service and committal. It meant so much to the family that his second family looked after him right to the end.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, we trust this token of our deep gratitude and sincere appreciation will be acceptable to you all.
The Russell family, Londonderry
