BIRNEY The wife and sons of the late Robert James (Bobby) Birney would like to express their sincere thanks to relatives, friends and neighbours who sympathised with them during their recent sad bereavement. Thanks to all who called at the home, sent sympathy cards, floral tributes, gifts, donations to the Fourth Londonderry Boys' Brigade, attended the funeral or helped in any way. Also thanks to Bobby's ex-colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, especially the Area Commander, Jonathan Tate, who organised a Guard of Honour at the cemetery. Special thanks also to Mrs Karen Craig and the catering committee ladies of Kilfennan Presbyterian Church, for providing such splendid refreshments in the Church Hall after the funeral. Sincere thanks to the Very Rev Dr Rob Craig for his prayerful support, and for carrying out the funeral service both at Bobby's home, at the church and at the graveside. The caring and sympathetic manner of W.J. O'Brien and Son, Funeral Directors, was a comfort to us all, and we thank them for the dignified way the funeral arrangements were carried out. As we cannot thank everyone individually we are trusting this acknowledgement will be accepted by all as a token of our appreciation.
